Cycling and Mountainbiking
Even for "bike-friends" our region is well provided for. A lot of cycling networks make safe and enjoyable cycling possible, starting from Sonthofen you can lead to all directions.
As an attractive "base camp" in the cycling region Allgäu, Sonthofen also offers many services for friends of this environmentally friendly sport.
Tour recommendations
Our diverse landscape makes it possible for both "trained" and mountain bikers as well as "pleasure cyclists" who prefer the hiking trail, to be satisfied. And the distribution of our e-bikes (see below) can also enjoy less trained peak experiences.

International Cycling events
Sonthofen has gained international reputation as host for high-level cycling events.
Such was our city in summer 2007 official stage of the Tour of Germany, 2009 starting point of the Jeantex Tour Transalp and 2010 Sonthofen hosted more than 1,200 mountain bikers in the Craft Bike Trans Germany. In addition, annual events such as the "Stoeckle race" are highlights of the cycling season.
Days of cycling
Solid part during the cycling season are now the "days of Cycling in Sonthofen", for example "Stoeckle-Rennen", das "Citycriterium" or the race in Altstädten.
Rental of E-Bikes
Sonthofen can also help cyclists which are not on great condition. The tourist office functions namely as a rental station for three modern electric bicycles. If you go uphill, or when the distances are too great the electric motor supports cyclists.
The motor doubles your pedal power! The battery lasts about 60 km, which corresponds to a pleasant day trip. Comfort is the day - half the effort and double the pleasure. This is also much higher slopes can be mastered without much effort and starts at 17, - € per day. Incidentally, the e-bike can go without any helmet or driving license (16 years).
Radl-Bahnhof with bike-rental
As a special guest services, the town of Sonthofen offers free bicycles, which can be used in the city. The uniformly white-painted bikes are equipped with shopping baskets, some with child seats.
To borrow works fine:
Upon deposit of 10.00 EUR and listing the identity card number in the tourist office you can easily cycle through the pedestrian zone or take a trip into the countryside. After returning to the wheel, there is the 10.00 EUR return.
